Andrew Stanton Storytelling

QueNotes
storytelling:
-joke telling
-past present future
-“make me care”
-not predictable
-has guidelines not hard fast rules
-a strong theme is always running through a well told story
-invoke wonder
-capture truth from your experiences
No songs
No “I want” moment
No happy village
No love story
No villain
Good stories give you a promise, “a well told promise is like a pebble slingshotted through to the end”
Make the audience put things together. Give them 2+2 not 4
Characters: All well drawn character has a spine with a need to scratch an itch.
“Drama is anticipations mingled with uncertainty” (tension)

Summary: It is important to not give the audience all the answers to your story. You need to build anticipation and invoke wonder rather without it, it makes the story boring and bland. Make meaning with the content.
